Motivating Teaching (Motivating Teaching Scan)

Motivating teachers make the difference. The Motivating Teaching Scan maps how students experience their school life and how teachers assess their own teaching style — giving schools a powerful basis to support and develop their teachers.

Many factors shape how students experience their school life. These include the content of the curriculum, the group they are part of, school policies, and the involvement and support of their parents. Teachers also play a key role in how students engage. Thanks to a motivating teacher, students become enthusiastic about learning, participate actively, and achieve better results.

The Motivating teaching Scan maps how students experience their school life. In addition, it examines how teachers assess their own teaching style and how this is perceived by their students.

The scan is designed for secondary school teachers and their students. A similar scan for primary school teachers and their students is currently in development.

  • A mirror for every teacher

Gathering both perspectives reveals blind spots: teachers immediately see whether their own self-assessment aligns with their students’ experiences. These insights help teachers consciously balance effective guidance on the one hand and giving room for input and initiative on the other.

  • Scientifically grounded tool

The Motivating Teaching Scan is fully scientifically validated. The results highlight both strengths and areas for growth in teaching style and motivation. In this way, the scan offers a practical self-reflection tool that supports teachers in their professional development.
