Job content is about the tasks employees carry out and how meaningful, varied, and challenging these are. It includes the extent to which they can use their expertise, develop skills, and exercise decision making. Clearly defined tasks combined with room for decision making strengthen motivation and a sense of purpose. Vague or monotonous tasks, by contrast, can be demotivating.
