Artevelde University of Applied Sciences & Odisee – HR as the Engine of Leadership
At Artevelde University of Applied Sciences and Odisee, HR partners are stepping away from firefighting for their leaders. Instead, they are choosing to spark the fire within their leaders.
What if HR is no longer the final stop for complaints or difficult conversations, but rather the driving force of leadership development?
Train-the-trainer: HR as expert and coach
Together with Impetus, the universities developed a sustainable learning pathway aligned with the competencies their leaders need.
Through a train-the-trainer approach, HR partners are trained as experts, sounding boards, advisors and coaches.
Thanks to this approach, they can now independently deliver leadership modules as well as team and individual coaching, taking a proactive role in strengthening leadership.
A “charged C-battery”
The programme charges the competence battery of HR partners. They experience recognition for their expertise, gain confidence in supporting leaders, and are stimulated to further expand their knowledge and skills.
The training provides:
- new theoretical insights
- frameworks to discuss observations in clear language
- methods to help leaders gain insight and take action
- practical tips to create a motivating work context
Lasting impact
By empowering HR partners, leadership development becomes no longer a temporary project of an external provider but an integral part of the organisational culture.
HR learns to read and interpret leadership and work-experience scan reports and can actively involve leaders in learning and support needs. This gives them a valid and reliable toolkit for analysis and advice.
Future-oriented
In the coming years, these HR partners will facilitate, refine and tailor the leadership modules to the needs of their leaders.
The train-the-trainer approach ensures a durable embedding of leadership development within Artevelde University of Applied Sciences and Odisee.
